Appalachian Heritage FestivalThe 6th annual Scott County Heritage Festival will take place at the Scott High School at the Museum of Scott County from 11am to 5 pm. A wide variety of crafts demonstrations fill the day, including flint-knapping, rifle-making, basket-weaving, soap-making and much more. A Civil War reenactment is also held, and many crafters have their foods for sale. Get a taste of the pioneer era with the homemade jellies and jams, fried pies and other food items on sale as well. 20th Annual Haunting in the Hills Storytelling Festival

Story-web-joyce10_1In addition to storytelling there will usually be other activities throughout the day. Traditional craft classes are taught from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Classes offered this September will include crochet basics, basket making, soap carving, quilting, pioneer skills, candle wick embroidery and dulcimer classes. Sign up for craft classes will be done the day of the event. Class sizes are limited so arrive early and plan to take the opportunity to learn a new skill or craft. Click Here for more info.

Wings Over Big South Fork

twintigers2012The 9th Annual Wings Over Big South Fork Air & Car Show was a specular combination of aviation and the love of classic cars. Mark Sorenson & Buck Roetman commanded attention with their daring performances in their two identical Tiger Yak 55’s.
